you are planning to move your family to Riyadh, here are some International schools to consider. The list is not all that exists; it is the schools that I am aware. The cost and quality of the schools greatly vary from school to school. Please do your own research but here is a good list to start with. If you know schools that I am not aware off that are not listed, please send it and I would include after I review them. You should consider quality of education, environment, transportation, and other factors such as Islamic School vs. Non Islamic Schools.

Zara, I am not sure the Manarat KG2 fee structure. It should be around SR 17000 -19000. To make sure please call the Manarat Islamic School at: +966 1 454 0444.

thanks for the info. i am not in riyadh yet but will be moving soon. need an excellent school with arabic and english as strengths and also a good environment of activities and islam as well. can you recommend any as none of them have a website that works? pls also tell us about location of that school and compounds near it. how does one find out such things when one is in saudi since there are no yellow pages? thanks

Naqvi, I think the best way for you is to go and see the schools for yourself. The schools here are different in quality and have different environments. For example if you are looking Islamic schools you should consider Manarat International Schools, Al-Rawad, Middle East International. Other good schools include Riyadh Multinational School (Australian), British school and the American School. The websites are listed in the original post.

Salaam, If you have any info on Arabic medium schools that would be much appreciated. We are planning to move to Riyadh at the end of the year and my son would be starting at kindergarted level - I am keen for him to be fluent in arabic iA. I have heard of the King Faisal School, are there any others? Someone also mentioned Advanced Learning Schools but I believe they teach in both arabic and english. Any feedback would be appreciated. JK

Former student of Manarat school (the English section) in Riyadh, here. Trust me, it's not worth the money. It's an appallingly horrible school. The teachers are completely incompetent, as well as unprofessional. I have a chronic condition and the school turned a blind eye to it, despite repeated attempts from my parents trying to inform them that it's very possible that I may have certain episodes and what the proper treatment is (which is easy; call the nurse, let her handle it). It culminated with them telling me that I must be lying to my parents and making them believe that I had this condition to garner sympathy and special treatment, because only older people got said condition. This is just ONE incident, I've got many. Maybe I should start a blog about it.

Multinational school registrar sucks! she already accepted my daughter and told us to come back for enrolement to be finalised but called me in the last minute and says no more appointment after I withdrawn my daughter to her present school. The registrar is such a racist English lady who does not have right to work in a multinational school. Most of their staff are locally hired no right to work as they are all dependents. Now the Saudization is on going I hope they get rid of these racist staff!

hi i was just reading the posted comments the one abt manarat school made me worry as i was planning to put my kids to manarat school plus its one of the schools near to my home as i always prefer nearest school from the house i m new here in riyadh and people suggesting diff school heard good abt alrowad but they said they dont have adm for 1 grade so plz if any one can suggest any other good school except british as we cant afford it near alshauhda district riyadh . thanks

If you want a good school do not think about the New Middle East International School. It's one of the worst. It's curriculum is traditional and it's overloaded. The system all sucks especially for the kindergarten. They allow aggressiveness in KG2 and don't let parents visit their children, however, if you do you'll simply get dismissed. The staff isn't really qualified , their main issue is to finish the program and simply they don't take your issues into consideration - other than money issues of course. It's a trading school.

Hi everyone! I'm a qualified teacher and have had the privilege to work at some prestigious schools in Riyadh including some of those mentioned on this blog. I can tell from experience that one of the best schools (where REAL learning is a priority)is - Middle East International School (esp. the American Section) - it was a great school at least until I worked there some 5 years ago. Beware - some schools may be accredited by international agencies but that accreditation might only be for the first phase wherein they are required to make massive improvements until they can prove they are upto international standards. Check with friends and teachers who work there to get a real idea of what the place is like before you send your children there. Better still, ask for a tour and get a feel of the place yourself. Hi.
Me and my husband both are doctors from Pakistan. We will be moving to Riyadh next month because if job offer. My son is 8and half years old and he is a slow learner. Here in Lahore he is going to a main stream well reputed fully English medium school in grade three. With a bit of encouragement and guidance from his teachers he us doing well in his school. I'm really concerned about finding a good and affordable school for him. Please guide me in this regard.

While some private international schools are able to provide assistance to those with minor learning difficulties, they are specially expensive or have long waiting list. I will encourage you to check with Riyadh Multinational school and the Pakistani international school and inquiry your particular needs. Others schools to consider are the Ghana international and the Philippines international. There are also lots of doctors from the Indian subcontinent and they might give you more options.
